Biography.
Raúl Parra
Raúl Parra began DJing at home at just 11 years old (1994), following in the footsteps of his brother, an amateur DJ. By 15, he had mastered three- and four-deck sets. Always dedicated to Techno, his technical skill and ability to blend sounds transformed his sets into a unique spectacle. At 16, he won the national DJ championship, organized by Pro Audio, against numerous competitors from across the country. Supported by the community and his first and most important mentor, DJ Pelacha, he moved to Madrid to reside at the Arena group's Techno club. The support he received from the Zona 3 program on Radio 3, which broadcast his sets, and the resulting ripple effect, made this period pivotal in establishing him as the DJ of the future. The endorsement from the international label Serial Killer Vinyl was crucial in solidifying his place within the electronic music scene.
2002 was his breakthrough year. For the first time, he was nominated for Best National DJ, becoming the youngest DJ ever nominated in the awards' history. This clearly established him as the DJ of the future in Spain. He solidified his position as a top DJ, but with one key difference: his audacious youth. His sets at the iconic Florida135 and Monegros 03 (Huesca) would define an era. To date, he remains the youngest artist to perform at the Monegros Desert Festival, a feat that garnered significant attention from the music press. 2003 was his breakout year, and among other accolades, he received a major endorsement from the leading print media outlet: the newspaper EL PAÍS, in its special tenth-anniversary edition of El País de las Tentaciones, confirmed him as the breakout artist of the next decade in electronic music. For the first time, he will also be among the nominees for Best Techno DJ of the Year, appearing in the top five DJs of the year. Furthermore, national newspapers such as EL MUNDO, EL MEDITERRANEO de Levante, the Andalusian edition of LA RAZON, and specialized magazines like TRAX, DEEJAY, DEEJAY ONE, FREECLUB MAG, MONDOSONORO, and PRIMERA LINEA have highlighted his maturity and enormous potential as an electronic artist on an international level.
Later, the TVE program "Miradas Dos" aired an interesting report on another side of the artist. The Castilla-La Mancha Regional News Channel also featured the young artist from La Mancha in a 24-hour report that explored his family and professional life. At the end of 2011, he made his first international breakthrough with the promoter Illusion Sound at a Warehouse event in London. He is one of the resident DJs, along with Luis MF, at the legendary Toledo club Family Club, which hosts top international artists every month.
He is also a resident DJ at Play – Puro Techno, one of the most important techno promoters in Castilla-La Mancha. As a producer, his work can be heard on labels such as AFU Limited, Unknown Pleasures, I-Traxx Red Editions, Nu Body, Black Montanas, and Black Leather.
